Chapter Goals & Objectives

SERVICE TO MEMBERS
Education Objective (from Chapter Long Range plan): Service members by providing the local internal audit community with educational, networking and peer support functions.

Current year Goals and Objectives:
1. Provide a minimum of 4 hours of qualifying continuing professional education each month from September through April with an overall minimum of 40 hours for the Chapter year.
2. Sponsor a CAE roundtable for local chief audit executives.
3. Conduct annual survey of members to help determine program needs and training opportunities.
4. Reach out to CAEs and other entities with group memberships who don’t attend current training events to determine if Chapter can meet their needs.
5. Personal welcome all new members with welcome letter and training discount offer.

Certification Objective (from Chapter Long Range plan): Increase the number of Chapter members seeking and obtaining IIA certifications

Current year Goals and Objectives:
1. Market IIA certifications at all Chapter events.
2. Host annual dinner to recognize members receiving certifications for the previous year.

Social Objective (from Chapter Long Range plan): Provide opportunities for members to network and increase social activities of the Chapter.

Current year Goals and Objectives:
1. Host two social events for members at no cost.
2. Develop new committee for social responsibility and determine appropriate volunteer activity for the Chapter to participate.

SERVICE TO PROFESSION
Membership Objective (from Chapter Long Range Plan): To increase overall membership while retaining current members.

Current year Goals and Objectives:
1. Increase overall Chapter membership 5%.
2. Retain at least 90% of members whose memberships expire during the year.
3. Contact CAEs who do not take advantage of group memberships and encourage this by showing the benefits of that type of membership.

Academic Relations Objective (from Chapter Long Range Plan): Promote awareness of the internal audit profession to the local academic community and involve that community in the Chapter.

Current year Goals and Objectives:
1. Continue to provide support to the University of Maryland Master program.
2. Attend at least 4 college career fairs / accounting clubs, etc. to present IIA information and discuss careers in internal auditing.
3. Continue to sponsor undergraduate and graduate scholarship program (currently 3 awards annually at $2,000 each).
4. Attract at least 6-10 new student members for the year.

CHAPTER ADMINISTRATION
Leadership Development Objective (from Chapter Long Range Plan): Continue to develop members for leadership roles.

Current year Goals and Objectives:
1. Develop viable succession plan by identifying members (both current officers / Board members) interested in taking on new or increased leadership roles.
2. Send 2-3 members to Leadership Academy in April 2011.

Chapter Finance Objective (from Chapter Long Range Plan): Maintain financial viability of the Chapter while providing activities to members at a reasonable cost.

Current year Goals and Objectives:
1. Develop and have Board approve a Chapter investment policy.
2. Consolidate unencumbered funds into single investment vehicle that maximizes income while complying with IIA investment guidance.
3. Update all bank records to ensure that bank information reflects current and appropriate Chapter Officers.
4. Incorporate the Chapter.

Communication and Participation Objective (from Chapter Long Range Plan): To manage communications to the internal audit community and the public.

Current year Goals and Objectives:
1. Send out Chapter newsletter monthly.
2. Develop LinkedIn application for Chapter and maintain on a current basis.
3. Continue to enhance Chapter website to make it useful for members, including addition of pictures from events.
4. Participate in 2011 Internal Audit Awareness Month by obtaining an official proclamation from the State of Maryland.
