Daron K. Roberts is a former NFL coach and author of, “Call an Audible” (Greenleaf 2017). “Call an Audible” was named a #1 New Release and Best Seller by Amazon, and Sports Illustrated selected the book as one of its “Best Sports Business Books of 2017.” After graduating from Harvard Law School (2007), Roberts served coaching stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, West Virginia Mountaineers and Cleveland Browns. He holds a B.A. in Plan II Honors and Government from the University of Texas (2001) and an M.P.P. from Harvard’s Kennedy School (2004). Roberts has been featured in ESPN the Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek and Sports Illustrated. His articles have appeared in The Dallas Morning News, Fortune, Houston Chronicle, and Time. Topic: Overcoming the Challenges to Agile Auditing
Topic Description: Agile Auditing has been around for more than 10 years and yet,
many are not using this amazing approach to help them perform high-quality, collaborative, quicker audits. Why?
This session allows participants to learn from a pioneer and expert on Agile Auditing who
has implemented Agile Auditing in eight departments and performed nearly 50 Agile Audits.
There has definitely been bumps along the way and together, we will explore how to overcome the
challenges in both implementing Agile Auditing and performing Agile Audits. Our conversation will
address auditing standards, culture, resource availability, audit scope, audit reports, and quality assessment reviews.

Raven Catlin is a globally recognized speaker and instructor in risk management and internal audit. She is a pioneer in Agile Auditing and published her first book, Agile Auditing: Fundamentals and Applications in 2021 (https://bit.ly/AgileAuditBook). She possesses over 20 years of diverse internal audit experience and risk management, and 20 years of instructing and facilitating a variety of courses. With this diverse experience, she helps professionals add tools to their toolbelts to achieve success. As a consultant, Raven performed a business process analysis and redesign (using Six Sigma and Lean) at the World Bank/IFC, facilitated a fraud risk assessment for a regional bank and trust company, and completed Agile Audits for local government, foundations, insurance companies, and banks. |
Topic: ESG’s Impact to Internal Audit
Topic Description: Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations are a rising priority for all companies given increased scrutiny from investors, the SEC, and social activists. To address emerging risk areas, companies are responding by developing ESG strategies and programs, and industry leaders are co-developing shared ESG frameworks. Internal audit and the audit committee serve important roles in an organization’s ESG program from its strategic inception to governance, risk management, and reporting. This session will explore how Internal Audit teams can help their organization navigate the world of ESG, including best practices in ESG reporting.

Bill is based in the Washington D.C. metropolitan market, where he serves as Chairman of the Board for the Northern Virginia Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Bill is a proud alumnus of Virginia Tech, where he obtained a B.S. degree in Accounting & Information Systems. Robert Mainardi worked in the Internal Audit Profession for 21 years as a financial services industry auditor. Prior to starting his company, Mainardi & Associates, he was the Vice President of Internal Audit for the Penn Mutual. Prior to joining Penn Mutual, his experience included roles as a Senior Audit Manager for The Vanguard Group, Audit Consultant for Aetna, and Audit Director for Prudential Insurance. As a professional speaker and consultant, Robert leads client programs to develop and maintain world class internal auditing functions; create and implement continuous auditing methodologies; issue high impact audit reports; construct audit dashboards; and perform QAR’s. He has been developing and facilitating training for over 25 years and is internationally recognized and continues to be a featured speaker at MIS and IIA conferences and other professional association events each year. He is an active member of the IIA and a Board member of the IIA Philadelphia Chapter Board. |
